The Marine Engineer was born the day the French inventor Deni’s Papin constructed a steam boat powered by his steam engine in 1704. Since then, from steam to diesel engines and computer controlled machineries,
the role of a Marine Engineer is constantly changing with new challenges being regularly thrown up.
The Indian Maritime University is committed to provide systematic and contemporary training in the field of Marine Engineering.
IMU offers the following courses in Marine Engineering:
(1) Pre-sea Courses offered are Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering (1 year) and B.Tech in Marine Engineering (4 years).
(2) Post Sea courses include Marine Engineer Officer’s preparatory courses, Revalidation courses for Marine Engineers and Simulator courses for Marine Engineers.
(3) Other allied courses inclusive of STCW Modular courses.
