IMU and Logistics Sector Skill Council enters in to an MoU for introducing stipendiary apprenticeship-embedded BBA Degree in Maritime Logistics
Indian Maritime University and Logistics Sector Skill Council have signed an MoU for introducing stipendiary apprenticeship-embedded BBA Degree in Maritime Logistics at the Visakhapatnam Campus of the University. The Degree will be introduced from the ensuing academic year 2022-23. The degree curriculum is embedded with two spells of apprenticeship for 12 months during the third year of study with a monthly stipend of Rs.7,500 per student. The Degree curriculum has been developed by industry experts and is focused on making the graduates industry-ready with relevant Knowledge, Skill and Attitude.

Shri P. Thangapandian, Assistant Registrar of Indian Maritime University, Headquarters received the award for the Best Paper presentation in Technical Session-V on "U.C Agarwal Memorial Lecture : Theme - Role of People in Atmanirbhar Bharat. Title - Strengthening Domestic Industries' Human Resource Management through Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan Structural Reforms : An Empirical Study with reference to Heavy Vehicles Factory, Avadi".
The event was a National Convention organized by Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi during 28 & 29 December 2021.

Rapid industrialization leading to over production and consumption culminated in the degradation of our coastlines and oceans. The pollution of the marine environment poses a threat to the very existence of life on this earth no matter whether it is micro-organisms or human colonies. While the blue economy model of a developing nation aims at human well-being through opportunities for economic growth and tackling unemployment, food security and poverty, the degradation of marine environment can do no good in realizing these aims. For reaping the fruits of the blue economy, we need to sow the seeds of healthy and safe marine environment and resilient coastlines.

Dr. DEEPAK MISHRA, Assistant Professor (Electrical Engineering), of Indian Maritime University, Kolkata Campus has been felicitated with the POSOCO PPSA Award 2022.
POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA) outlines the initiative to recognize research excellence in power systems by rewarding Doctoral/Master research accomplishments in all the technical institutions offering PG in power systems and related fields in India. This is a CSR activity of Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) – a Government of India Enterprise. POSOCO has associated with the Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT), the industrial interface organization at IIT Delhi for the implementation of the CSR activity. FITT will function as the nodal agency for the implementation of this award program at the national level Award.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA – 21st June 2021 – YOG SAMAY
The inclusion of yoga in one's life has become significant for the well-being of seafarers and young mariners, particularly in the wake of the prevailing pandemic.
IMU and AIMPA along with Maritime Fraternity Group organised a virtual event on 21st June 2021 to mark the occasion of International Yoga Day. Hon. Minister of Ports, shipping and waterways, Shri Mansukh L. Mandaviya was the chief Guest. Vice-Chancellor, IMU, Dr. Malini V Shankar gave the opening remarks, and Hon. Minister dwelt on the importance of yoga in one's life.
The Yoga Abhyas was conducted by AMBIKA Yog Kutir, and the Heartfelt Meditation Session was led by Shri Sanjay Ji Bhatia (Up-Lokpal Maharashtra State and Ex-chairman of MBPT).
The event was attended by close to 500 participants.

Maritime History of India : A Manthan
In tune with Maritime India Vision 2030, Indian Maritime University (IMU), in association with Maritime History Society (MHS), conducted two-days Online National Workshop on the theme "Maritime History of India: A Manthan" on April 21 and 22, 2021.
Inaugural Session by Dr.(Mrs.) Malini V Shankar, IAS(Retd.), Vice Chancellor, IMU, Prof. Dr. V.K. Kesavadev, Director(i/c), IMU Vishakapatnam Campus and Cmde. Odakkal Johnson, Director, Maritime History Society. Addressing an important collaboration between IMU and MHS. It is a stepping stone towards a 360-degree view of the maritime studies.
Vice Chancellor, IMU expressed a need to study regional records as maritime history was an inter disciplinary field. Also, the workshop to lead to ST courses and subjects and more intensive research on maritime domain, its heritage and archaeology for in-house and external participants.

Institute of Marine Engineers (India) to establish an Endowment Chair position at IMU to advance the common objectives
Creation of the Chair Professor and Collaboration with IME(I) will usher in a new impetus of Academic and Research activities in School of Marine Engineering, IMU. Dr. Malini V Shankar, Vice Chancellor of Indian Maritime University chaired the deliberations with IMEI and the key outcome was the commitment by IMEI to support a Chair for Research in IMU.
Company of Master Mariners (India) - CMMI mentors IMU cadets
The CMMI has stepped in to offer mentorship to Nautical cadets on one-to-one basis by professionals. This year 30 nautical cadets from various IMU campuses will be benefitted by this noble gesture of industry veterans. Dr. Malini V Shankar, Vice Chancellor of Indian Maritime University delivered the Keynote Address during the signing of the agreement.
IMU and CII Institute of Logistics enters in to an MoU to collaborate.
The MoU signed in December 2020 will enable both the organizations to collaborate on courses, Industrial studies and joint projects in Logistics field. Dr. Malini V Shankar, Vice Chancellor of Indian Maritime University delivered the Keynote Address during the MoU signing between IMU and CII.
