Pro Vice Chancellor

Dr Rajoo Balaji graduated from Marine Engineering College, Kolkata (DMET) in 1980 and sailed for about two decades, obtaining his Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency etc. He then turned to academics in 2000. He holds a Masters in Maritime Management and a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering/Marine Technology. His research interests include Maritime Education and Marine Environment and Renewable Energy. He has several Indexed and Non-Indexed Publications to his credit.

He is Fellow of Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST, UK), Fellow of Institute of Marine Engineers (India) and a Member of Institution of Engineers (India). He has a Chartered Engineer certification from Engineering Council, UK. In the recent past, he held charge as Director of IMU Chennai Campus as also the Dean in charge of the University.

Presently, he is the Pro Vice Chancellor of Indian Maritime University.
