Indian Maritime University, Kolkata Campus, in collaboration with DMET Alumni, hosted the 38th Session of DMET Samvaad. The event featured a captivating talk by Shri Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India and Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, titled “Stitched Ship Project – Revisiting India’s Maritime Past.”

Shri Sanyal discussed shipbuilding as a ‘Sunrise Industry’ for India and elaborated on the ‘Stitched Ship Project’, a technology used by Indian sea-farers 3,500-4,000 years ago to construct vessels for trade with ancient civilizations. His insights aimed to revive this almost forgotten technique, inspiring the audience with our rich maritime heritage and advancements in shipbuilding technology.
The session was deeply enriching, and attendees had the opportunity to acquire autographed copies of his books.
