Indian Maritime University, Chennai Campus is hosting a captivating series of Maritime lectures regularly that will delve into the fascinating world of maritime exploration, uncovering the mysteries of the deep and celebrating the rich history of seafaring. In this series, Shri. A.R. Venkatachalapathy, a senior Professor at the Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS) delivered a talk on 4.4.2024 at the Chennai Campus Auditorium on the historical background of V.O. Chidambaram Pillai (1872-1936) and his battle against the British Empire. The lecture was attended by the students of the School of Maritime Management, School of Nautical Science, School of Maritime and Engineering Technology, Faculty members, Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Controller of Examination, and the Director. After the Lecture, Chennai Campus released the book titled “Swadeshi Steam: V.O. Chidambaram Pillai and the Battle against the British Maritime Empire written by A.R.
