The Registrar, Mr. K. Saravanan, attended the International Maritime Education Conference held at Dalian Maritime University between 21st and 25th September, 2023, in Dalian, China, and spoke on the topic: Chances and Challenges of New Technology to Maritime Education in Asia and the Pacific Area: An Indian Perspective. He emphasised the learning of holistic and Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary education, thrust in innovation and entrepreneurship at Higher Education levels. He emphasised further the imperative to stay relevant under the new age of IR 4.0, global environmental concerns, and the dialogue shift towards the blue economy. He elaborated on a few key elements of Maritime Education Training (MET) from the Indian perspective that IMU intends to bring changes to. IMU, the largest Maritime University in India, envisages elevating the tenor of MET to relevant applied research while maintaining the philosophy of competence in both sea and shore careers.
