DISHA, an initiative by the Career Guidance and Adolescent Counselling Cell of the Kerala Department of Education, aims to assist higher secondary students in exploring various career options in government institutions. This year, the program was held in Thrissur from October 4 to 8, 2024, and was inaugurated by the Minister for Higher Education, Srimati Bindhu Teacher. The Indian Maritime University (IMU) Kochi Campus represented the institution at the event, with a team of two staff members and four nautical science students showcasing information about IMU and its campuses. Over five days, the IMU stall attracted approximately 30,000 visitors, including students from around 1,300 public schools, as well as higher secondary teachers and career counselors. DISHA 2024 featured 53 stalls, with prominent institutions such as IIT Madras, IIM Kozhikode, and the National Defense Academy participating. The IMU stall received positive feedback, and the university conducted around 20 presentations aimed at educating attendees about its programs and opportunities. The initiative successfully created a platform for students, teachers, and counselors to connect and gain insights into various career paths, reinforcing the commitment of the Kerala government to support educational and career development.
