A P.G Diploma in Marine Engineering is a 1- year postgraduate level program that focuses on providing students with advanced knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain marine vessels.Upon completion of the program, graduates can find employment opportunities in the maritime industry, including shipping companies, shipyards, offshore drilling companies, and research institutions.

Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification

    B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or B.E. / B.Tech. in Marine Engineering (non DGS approved) with minimum marks of 50% in final year with minimum 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam
    OR
    Full-time BE/B.Tech (with at least 50% marks in the final year) in Mechanical Engineering streams E.g. Mechanical and Automation, Mechanical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobile, etc. However, the word “Mechanical" should be first indicating that Mechanical Engineering is the core and the second subject is the elective with a minimum of 50% marks in the English language at 10th or 12th or in the Degree Exam.
    OR
    Candidates who have a degree (with at least 50% marks in the final year) in all Naval Architecture streams, e.g., Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ship Building, etc. However, the word "Naval Architecture" should be first indicating that Naval Architecture is the core and the second subject is the elective with a minimum of 50% marks in the English language at 10th or 12th or in the Degree Exam.
     


  • Relaxation

    There is a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks required in English in 10+2 examination for candidates who fulfil the following criteria:
     
    a) Native of Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands
    b)  Belong to Scheduled Tribes
    c)  Both parents born in the islands

  • Age Limit

    The minimum age limit for admission to the Marine Engineering programme is 17 years. However, the upper age limit may vary depending on the following:
     
    Male: General-28 years, OBC (NCL) - 31 years, (SC/ST-33 years)
     Female: General-30 years, OBC (NCL) - 33 years (SC/ST-35 years)
     
    Note: The reference date for calculation of the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session. i.e. 21.08.2023.
     


  • Medical Certificate

    All the candidates who qualify for this program require to submit a Physical Fitness Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner at the time of Certificate Verification.
